Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is composed primarily of methane that has been converted into liquid form for ease of storage or transport. It is non-toxic, odorless, non-corrosive, and colorless. It is not flammable in its liquid state. If spilled, it evaporates.  LNG achieves a higher reduction in volume that makes it cost efficient to transport over long distances, where pipelines do not exist.

  • Cheaper

    • LNG Costs 25-50% less than diesel
    • At current diesel prices, natural gas price would have to increase four-fold to achieve parity
    • Natural gas vehicles experience reduced engine maintenance cost over diesel engines

  • Cleaner

    • 70% less CO
    • 87% less NOx
    • 20% less CO2

LNG is a clear, odorless, non-corrosive, and non-toxic liquid formed when natural gas has been cooled to -260°F
When exposed to the environment, LNG rapidly evaporates leaving no residue on water or soil
  • Safer

    • LNG does not burn in its liquid state
    • Its vapors are safe to breathe
    • If spilled, LNG evaporates quickly and leaves no residue
    • LNG has the best safety record of any fossil fuel
